Flight Arrival and Departure Times
If you are flying in to San Diego International Airport (SAN) on the day of your cruise make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the ship. Carnival recommends arriving by 2:00 PM. After your cruise, your flight should not leave before 11:30 AM. (updated January 2011)
Parking at the Port of San Diego.
There is no onsite parking at the Port of San Diego. (updated October 2010)
Other Parking options for the Port of San Diego
There are several parking lots close to the port offering parking while you are on your cruise. Many of them have shuttles to the port. Most of the lots charge between $10 to $25 per night. If you are arriving by car the night before your cruise, several of the hotels in the area may let you leave your car in their lot while you cruise. However, you will need to stay at least one night before your cruise – look for "Park 'n Stay" rates advertised by the hotel. These hotels usually have a shuttle to take you to and from the cruise port. (updated July 2010)
From San Diego Airport (SAN) to the Port of San Diego
The airport is approximately 3 miles from the port. There are a few shuttle companies that you can use to get to the port as well. Cruise Line transfers are $16 per person each way from SAN. Taking a taxi is probably an equally cost effective option, and, you will not have to wait for the cruise line bus to fill-up, thus, saving you time waiting at the airport. Our advice is to take a cab to the cruise port. (updated April 2010)
Taking the Train to San Diego
You can take a train to Sante Fe Depot Station and then it's a short taxi ride or walk to the port. (updated April 2010)
Online Check-in for your Carnival cruise
Complete the FunPass check-in online at least 3 days prior to your cruise. This will speed up check-in for your Carnival Cruise from San Diego. (updated November 2009)
